Chris Nicastro Jr. '15 Signs with WBPL's VCardinals as SVC Baseball's First Paid Pro Player
June 05, 2015Southern Vermont College 2015 graduate Chris Nicastro Jr. (Kenilworth, N.J.) has become the first student-athlete in school history to earn a paid professional baseball contract as the shortstop recently signed with the VCardinals, a class affiliate of the Virginia Marlins in the World Baseball Pro League (WBPL).

Tommy Youngblood '15 Selected for NCAA Career in Sports Forum
May 30, 2015Former Southern Vermont College men’s soccer player Tommy Youngblood (Leonardtown, Md.) has been selected to participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) 2015 Career in Sports Form, a program designed to help young men and women develop careers in sports networking after athletics.

Women's Cross Country's Sarah Lampro Defies Death Valley for 100-Mile JDRF Bike Ride
October 21, 2014This past weekend, Southern Vermont College women's cross country senior Sarah Lampro (Otis, Massachusetts) did not to travel with her team to compete at the Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational, a choice not only condoned by head coach Kathleen Newton, but encouraged. Instead, Sarah went to Death Valley, California to take part in a 100-mile bicycle race to help support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

SVC Approved for Athletics Consortium with Bennington College by NCAA (Press Conference Video Inside)
August 28, 2014The National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) has given the go-ahead to Southern Vermont College (SVC) for an athletics consortium with Bennington College starting this fall. Through the consortium, Bennington College students would be permitted to participate in SVC’s New England Collegiate Conference/Division III athletics.

July 29, 2014Seizing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, former Southern Vermont College men’s volleyball outside hitter Anthony Barahona (Eagle Rock, California) recently completed his play with USA DIII Men’s Volleyball Team – Brazil Tour 2014, getting a chance to play against strong competition around the country as well as soak up its culture over the span of a week.

NCAA Selects SVC Faculty Member Jeb Gorham as DIII FAR Fellow, Gorham Selected to Serve as NECC FAR
