The 2014 schedules for Southern Vt. fall teams can be found with the following links. Check them out to see who the Mountaineers will be facing this year!

Men's Cross Country

The men's cross country team will run a very competitive schedule this fall, starting the season north of campus at the Castleton State Invitational. SVC will once again host the Mountaineer Invitational (Sept. 13) before the team goes south just over the border for the Williams College Purple Valley Classic, a chance for the Southern Vt. team to familiarize itself with the course on which the NCAA New England Regional Qualifier will be help in mid-November. The New England Collegiate Conference Championship will be run on October 25, giving the team two weeks of rest before the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship on November 8.

Women's cross country will run an identical fall schedule to the men's side, gearing up for the 6K NCAA New England Regional Qualifier on November 15. In addition to hosting the Mountaineer Invitational on September 13, SVC will visit nearby Keene State College for a 5K race on October 4 and then take a weekend off before once again traveling to Western New England University for the Golden Bear Invitational. Second-year head coach Kathleen Newton and her harriers will use those races to prepare for the New England Collegiate Conference Championship (Oct. 25) and Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship (Nov. 8) prior to the NCAA Regional meet on November 15.

The men’s soccer team begins the 2014 season up north at the Lyndon State Kick-Off Tournament, facing the hosting Hornets on August 30. SVC’s non-conference schedule consists of varying levels of opponents including a September 12 match against Pine Manor College, a newly-established program, prior to a September 17 visit by a strong Middlebury College squad. The Mountaineers will also face the University of Maine at Fort Kent, a member of the United State Collegiate Athletic Association, twice at home during the regular season (Sept. 6 & 19). Southern Vt. opens the New England Collegiate Conference schedule on the College’s Homecoming Weekend, hosting Lesley University on September 27.

Women’s soccer kicks-off the 2014 season up at the 2nd Annual Norwich University Women’s Soccer Classic, playing Johnson State College on August 30 and then Lyndon State College August 31. The Mountaineers open up the home schedule on September 3 against Morrisville State College before taking on a tough Elmira College side at home on September 6. SVC will once again face Mount Holyoke College (Sept. 13), New England College (Sept. 16) and SUNY Cobleskill (Sept. 24) as part of the non-conference schedule. Southern Vt. and fourth-year head coach Michael Zauzig then begin the road to get back to the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs for the fourth consecutive season with the opening of league play on September 27 during the College’s Homecoming Weekend, hosting foe Lesley University for a 1 p.m. start.

The SVC women’s volleyball team will face a tough 2014 schedule against the likes of Roger Williams University (Sept. 13) and Rivier College (Sept. 27), both teams that made the NCAA tournament in 2013. Southern Vt. opens the season with a home match against Mass. College of Liberal Arts on September 5 and later hosts Middlebury College on September 18. Also included in the non-conference schedule are matches against Salve Regina University (Sept. 12), Castleton State College (Sept. 21), and Worcester State University (Oct. 4). Looking to get back to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) playoffs and capture their fourth straight league title, the Mountaineers open up the NECC schedule on October 4 with a showdown at Regis College, a rematch of the last two conference championship matches.
