2014-15 Winter Schedules Released

Southern Vermont College Athletics announced Wednesday the schedules for the 2014-15 winter teams. Links for each of the two Mountaineer basketball squads can be found below.

Men's Basketball

The men’s basketball team begins the 2014-15 year with a pair of tough non-conference games, preparing the Mountaineers for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) schedule; Southern Vt. travels down to Williams College on November 15 to start the season before hosting its home opener against Green Mountain College (Nov. 17). The Mountaineers then visit the University of Vermont on November 19 at Patrick Gymnasium, marking the first time to play a Division I opponent since they visited Princeton University in January of 2004. SVC will venture south to Virginia to play at Marymount University on November 22 and get back to campus to host Castleton State College (Nov. 30) before starting the NECC schedule. The first conference contest for second-year head coach Dan Engelstad and SVC will be at Regis College on December 4 in a rematch of the 2013-14 league playoff game that ended the Mountaineers’ season. Southern Vt. is set to then host the annual Tri-State Shootout on December 6 and 7, looking to defend its title; the tournament will be comprised of SVC, Vermont Technical College, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Women's Basketball

For the third straight year, the women’s basketball team will start the season at the Curry College Tip-Off Tournament, taking on the hosting Colonels on November 14. The Mountaineers return to campus for a four-game home stand, first welcoming Green Mountain College to the Mountaineer Athletic Center on November 17 for their home opener. Additional non-conference games include hosting Lyndon State College (Nov. 23) and The Sage Colleges (Nov. 30) before traveling to New England College on December 9. SVC and sixth-year head coach Mike Quinn begin the road to the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs on December 2 when they host Bay Path College at the MAC. Following the winter break, Southern Vt. welcomes Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to campus on January 3 before diving back into the league schedule with a home game against Lesley University on January 6.
