BENNINGTON, Vt. - Southern Vermont mens soccer sophomore Aaron Eschler (Gloversville, N.Y./Broadalbin-Perth HS) was named the 2008 NECC Mens Soccer Goalie of the Year Thursday. The Mountaineers, led by head coach Tim Penrod, were also honored as the 2008 NECC Team Sportsmanship Award recipients.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. The Southern Vermont mens soccer team coming off a tough loss and only a day of rest in between games lost 6-0 on the road to Skidmore College. The Mountaineers were within reach of victory most of the game with the score 2-0 until the 72nd when the Thoroughbreds got four goals in 17 minutes to seal the win.
BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Mountaineers mens soccer team allowed seven goals to pass through the frame against Curry College, Monday, in the eventual 7-1 loss. Prior to this game Southern Vermonts opponents were averaging 1.53 goals per game a huge improvement from last years 8.07 opponent average.

faced off against its conference foe Elms College on homecoming
weekend in what was the most explosive game of the year at Everett
Field. The boisterous homecoming crowd booed and cheered as the game
was plagued with foul after foul (37 in all including several yellow
cards).

Freshman forward Nick Haggerty (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park HS) scored two goals for the second straight game and sophomore Tony Martinez (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls HS) added two more as the Mountaineers mens soccer team won its second straight game, 5-1, over the Word of Life Huskies on Saturday.
POULTNEY, Vt. The Southern Vermont College Mens Soccer team beat Green Mountain College Eagles in non-conference action today by a score of 3-2. It is the team's first win in nearly two years. It is also the first win of the Coach Tim Penrod Era.
WESTFIELD, Mass. The Southern Vermont College mens soccer team battled hard on the road Thursday, yet came up short to Westfield State College 2-0.
The Mountaineers, who dropped to 0-4 on the year, played hard yet were outmatched by the physical nature of Westfield State.
Bennington, Vt. The Southern Vermont College mens soccer team took its second straight opponent into overtime before losing 1-0 to Castleton State College in the 99th minute in front of over 75 fans at Everett Field.
BENNINGTON, Vt. The Southern Vermont College mens and womens soccer teams will have a soccer field on campus for the 2008-2009 school year and beyond.
