ATTLEBORO, Mass. All five sponsored programs were represented on the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Volleyball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy.
BENNINGTON, Vt. The Southern Vermont mens volleyball hosted New England Collegiate Conference foe Elms College succumbing in 3 sets 7-30, 10-30, and 10-30. The Mountaineers were led by Cory Hightower (Hartford, Conn.) with three kills; while the Blazers Alberto Bravo posted a game high eight kills.
BENNINGTON, Vt. - Southern Vermont men's volleyball setter Ricky Harrington garnered the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week award after posting solid numbers last week against St. Joseph's (N.Y.). Harrington helped lead the green and white spikers to a 2-0 record on the week, notching their first wins in two years.
BENNINGTON, Vt. The Southern Vermont mens volleyball team not only broke a 32 match losing streak Friday night; they swept St. Joseph College (N.Y.) in a rare doubleheader. The Mountaineers only lost one set on the night winning 3-1 (27-30, 30-27, 30-23, 30-23) in the first match and a 3-0 (30-26, 30-24, 33-31) sweep in the second.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Southern Vermont mens volleyball team won its first set in two years but could not breakdown Conference (NECC) foe Lesley University losing 3-1 (13-30,30-28,35-37,14-30) Saturday. Middle blocker Joe Karnik led the squad with 15 kills and 1 block as the Mountaineers fell to 0-11 overall (0-5 NECC).
BENNINGTON, Vt. - Southern Vermont New and expanded men's volleyball team lost to Endicott College 3-0 (7-30, 7-30, 8-30) in the SVC Field House Wednesday night. Libero Ryan Heron could not dig the Mountaineers out of trouble as he finished with seven digs for the winless squad.
CHICOPEE, Mass. Southern Vermont College was outplayed in NECC / NECVA play Monday night as Elms College swept the Mountaineers 3-0 (30-5, 30-7, 30-7).
BEVERLY, Mass. The Endicott College mens volleyball team got back in the win column with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Southern Vermont College in NECVA action on Tuesday night in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 6-5 (5-0 NECVA) while the Mountaineers drop to 0-4 (0-4 NECVA).
NASHUA, N.H. Jullian Amarals (New Bedford, Mass. / New Bedford HS) posted a strong performance for the Mountaineers with 25 total digs but it wasnt enough to find the win column as they fell to Wentworth Institute of Technology 30-6, 30-26, 30-19 and Daniel Webster College 30-12, 30-21, 30-8 in a NEVCA (North East Collegiate Volleyball Association) tri-match Saturday afternoon.
BENNINGTON, Vt. Southern Vermont College recently named Tim Cole as the new head coach of the volleyball program at the college. Cole's philosophy on coaching will be the foundation on which he builds the program.
