Warrington Earns Division III All-New England Team
May 18, 2011BENNINGTON, Vt.- The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) announced the 2011 Division III All-New England Teams today which featured 52 athletes from across the region. Among those 52 athletes was SVC’s junior outfielder Pat Warrington, who earned third team honors. -
Cook, Gage, Northup Leave Legacy on SVC Baseball
May 12, 2011A sophomore captain is rare in college athletics. Three sophomore captains on the same team are unheard of. The Southern Vermont College baseball team had exactly that in the fall of 2008, when Dan Cook, Dave Gage, and Adam Northup were named captains. The trio of captains had the task of leading a team that hadn’t eclipsed the 10 win mark since 1988. -
Baseball Season Ends in Conference Championship
May 11, 2011NEW LONDON, Conn. – Top-seeded Mitchell College scored two runs in the eighth inning to take a 3-2 lead and held on to defeat fourth-seeded Southern Vermont College by the same margin in the title game of the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship on Wednesday afternoon. -
SVC Loses To Mitchell; Will Play One More Game To Determine NECC Champion
May 08, 2011NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College fought its way to a pair of wins on Sunday at the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship, forcing a final game to determine the tournament championship that will he held later in the week. The Mariners defeated Daniel Webster College 16-8 in the first game to advance to the title round, and then handed Southern Vermont College its first loss of the double-elimination tournament by a 9-7 final in the nightcap. -
Baseball Advances To The NECC Championship Game In Walk-Off Fashion
May 07, 2011NEW LONDON, Conn. – Two games were played on Saturday at the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship at Mitchell College. The host Mariners outlasted Becker College to win a 15-12 slugfest in the first game, and Southern Vermont advanced to the title round on a walk-off homer in a 7-4 win over Daniel Webster College in the second. -
Baseball Upsets Mitchell In First Round NECC Playoff Game
May 06, 2011NEW LONDON, Conn. – Both higher seeded teams were upset on Friday on the first day of play at the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship. Fourth-seeded Southern Vermont College upended top-seeded Mitchell College by a 6-2 final in the first game while third-seeded Daniel Webster College topped second-seeded Becker College by a 9-2 final in the nightcap. -
Seniors Keep Season Alive; Mountaineers Clinch 3rd Straight Playoff Appearance
May 01, 2011Bennington, VT- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team honored six seniors Sunday afternoon at Epstein Field in honor of the six members playing their final home game. The seniors consisted of Ben Naaktgeboren, Keith Diotte, Tim Johnson, and the trio of captains Dan Cook, Dave Gage, and Adam Northup. The six were also playing to avoid the game from being their final collegiate game ever; as SVC needed a win against conference leading Mitchell College to make the NECC playoffs. -
Baseball Sweeps Season Series from Elms
April 29, 2011Bennington, VT- For the second time in the 2011 season the Southern Vermont College baseball team swept a NECC series. This time against conference rival Elms College. The Mountaineers took game one last Thursday by the score of 10-3; and finished the feat Friday afternoon at Bill Epstein Field. The Mountaineers took game one 2-0 and completed the sweep with a 7-6 victory in the nightcap. -
Mountaineers Fall in Rubber Match to Nighthawks
April 26, 2011Boston, MA.- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers and Newbury College Nighthawks met for the third time in the 2011 season on Tuesday afternoon at Boston College. After Southern Vermont took game one on April 14th on a walk off hit the Nighthawks have taken the last two, including Tuesday, to win the season series. In the rubber match Tuesday afternoon Newbury won by the score of 8-2. -

Gage sets NCAA mark; Baseball splits
April 14, 2011Bennington, VT- Senior captain Dave Gage set the NCAA mark for hit by pitches in a career Thursday afternoon, as the Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team split a NECC conference double header with Newbury College. The Mountaineers won game one by the score of 4-3 in extra innings and the Nighthawks won game two 12-5 in a shortened game. Gage was hit four times on the afternoon boosting his total to 76 HBP in his career. -
Baseball loses fifth straight
April 13, 2011Saratoga Springs, N.Y. – The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team dropped their fifth straight decision Wednesday afternoon against Skidmore College. Skidmore senior Nick Laracuente improved to 6-0 and became the all-time winningest pitcher in Skidmore College baseball history in Wednesday’s 9-6 win over Southern Vermont. -
Hawks Sweep Mountaineers in Weekend Set
April 10, 2011Bennington, VT- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers and the Becker Hawks met for the third game in two days and for the third straight time it was the same result, a Becker College victory. Sunday afternoon at Bill Epstein field the Mountaineers looked to avoid their first ever sweep in NECC action but the feat couldn’t be accomplished as Becker came away with a 8-6 victory. -
Mountaineers Charge into Conference Set with Victory over Dutchmen
April 07, 2011BENNINGTON, VT- The Southern Vermont College baseball team will head into four big conference games, coming off a 13-9 victory over Union College Thursday afternoon. For the second straight Thursday afternoon the Mountaineers hosted a non-conference game and once again came out on top. Southern Vermont rallied from behind three times in the game but it was the seven run rally in the eighth that won the game. -
Errors Plague Mountaineers Baseball
April 06, 2011BENNINGTON, VT- It was a cold windy day in Middlebury, VT that even saw snow showers at moments throughout the game. The Mountaineers defensive play was not much better than the weather; as SVC made seven miscues in the field leading to 14 unearned runs in a 19-4 defeat, to in state opponent Middlebury College. The game was originally scheduled as a home game for the Mountaineers but was switched late Wednesday morning due to unplayable field conditions. -
Mountaineers Serve Cadets
March 31, 2011Bennington, VT- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team continued their hot streak Thursday at Epstein Field with an 11-2 victory over the Norwich Cadets. The Mountaineers have now won five of their last six games and are 4-1 since returning from their spring trip to Arizona. SVC improved to 6-10 overall with the win as Norwich dropped to 0-9. -

Baseball: SVC splits Conference Opener
March 26, 2011Bennington, Vt.- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team opened their 2011 NECC campaign Saturday afternoon with a double header against the 2010 NECC champions, Daniel Webster Eagles. The Mountaineers and Eagles split the double header with Daniel Webster taking game one 11-3 and SVC winning game two 11-6. -
Mountaineers Pounce Lions in Non-Conference Sweep
March 19, 2011BOSTON, Mass. - The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team opened their northeast schedule where it left off in Arizona. The Mountaineers who won their final game 19-5 in Arizona, swept the Emerson College Lions Saturday by the scores 5-4 and 9-0. Devin Rhodes and Ben Naaktgeboren each earned complete game victories on the mound for the Mountaineers (4-9). -
Baseball Ends Spring Trip on High Note
March 11, 2011Tucson, AZ- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team ended its spring break trip to Tucson, Arizona with a 19-5 win over Presentation College. After falling in game one to Presentation by the score of 9-8, SVC came roaring back to score 12 runs in the first two innings of game two. The Mountaineers end the trip 2-6 and 2-9 overall. -
Baseball Splits; Earns First Victory
March 09, 2011Tucson, AZ- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team earned its first win of the 2011 season on Wednesday with a 9-8 victory in game one against Dakota Wesleyan. SVC dropped game two of the double header 14-12, after falling behind 11-2 in the first inning. The Mountaineers are 1-5 on their spring trip in Tucson and 1-8 in 2011. -
Six Run Second Pushes Maroons Past Mountaineers
February 27, 2011BENNINGTON, VT- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers baseball team lost the final game of the weekend series against Roanoke College Sunday by the score of 7-0. Roanoke completed the sweep of SVC by putting a six spot on the scoreboard in the second inning and never looking back. -

February 26, 2011ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Daniel Webster College, the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference Co-Champions, has been chosen as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) baseball championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC’s head baseball coaches. -
Mountaineers Drop Pair in Season Opener
February 26, 2011BENNINGTON, VT- The Southern Vermont College baseball team opened their season with a pair of losses Saturday at Roanoke College. Roanoke took both games of the double header by the scores of 6-2 and 5-4 at Kiwanis Field. Roanoke led for all 14 innings of the two games after scoring one run in the first inning of game one and two runs in game two. -
