Recently, two Southern Vermont College women’s cross country members stepped up to help local girls utilize running in order to better their daily lives.

  • Alumni Runner Kathleen Newton Still Entering Record Books

    Former Southern Vermont College women’s cross country runner and current Mount Anthony Union High School head coach Kathleen Newton was recently named the Vermont Indoor Track Coach of the Year following the 2012-13 Vermont indoor track championships, the second-consecutive year in which she’s received the honor.

    The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced Friday the 2012 Fall Academic All-Conference Teams, and of the 169 student-athletes around the conference who were named for their respective sports, 14 are representatives from Southern Vermont College.

    The Southern Vermont College women’s cross country team grabbed a fourth-place finish at the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn. It ties the best finish for the program in NECC Championships, as the 2008 team also placed fourth.

    The Southern Vermont women’s cross country team took back to competition after taking last week off, participating well at the 2012 Western New England Golden Bear Invitational. The Mountaineers finished 19th out of the 23 teams running on Saturday.

  • Men's and Women's Cross Country Picked 3rd and 6th in NECC Preseason Poll

    The New England Collegiate Conference announced today the results of the preseason poll conducted for the 2012 cross country season. The SVC men’s and women’s teams were selected to finish third and sixth, respectively, among the conference competitors. The polls, voted on by conference coaches, see Lesley University finishing first on both the men’s and women’s sides. SVC’s men’s team was selected third in a tie with Daniel Webster.
