  • Mountaineer Fall Short In NECC Quarterfinals

    NEW LONDON, Conn. – Second-seeded Mitchell College scored two second-half goals to escape seventh-seeded Southern Vermont College on Tuesday afternoon; in the first round of the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s Soccer Championship.
  • Women’s Soccer Makes First Conference Tournament in 12 Years

    BENNINGTON, Vt.- In 1999 the Southern Vermont College Women’s Soccer program was at an all time high. The program had won ten games, three out of the last four seasons, and made the GNAC conference tournament. Then, Head Coach Scott McKenzie left for Juniata College where he has since been coaching the Women’s Soccer team.
  • Men’s and Women’s Soccer Cancelled

    BENNINGTON, Vt.- Saturday’s Men’s and Women’s soccer games against Wheelock College have been cancelled due to the weather. There will be no make up date announced, ending both teams regular season. However, both team qualified for the New England Collegiate Conference playoffs. The Men’s team earned the first seed in the playoffs and will host a semi-final game Friday, November 4th. The Women’s team has earned the 7th seed and will travel to a quarter-final match-up Tuesday.
  • Strong Second Half Not Enough for Women’s Soccer

    Leicester, Mass.- In the second half of Tuesday nights game between Becker and Southern Vermont the Mountaineers played the Hawks to a 1-1 draw. Unfortunately, five first half Becker goals led the Hawks to a 6-1 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) victory.

    BENNINGTON, Vt.- On a cold and windy day at Everett field on the campus of Southern Vermont College, the SVC Mountaineers took on Elms College, in a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women’s soccer game. Southern Vermont entered Wednesday’s match on a two game win streak and 2-2 in conference play.
  • Webster Leads Mountaineers to Second Straight Win

    LONGMEADOW, Mass.- After securing its first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) win a week ago, the Southern Vermont College Women’s Soccer team didn’t wait long to win the second. In its first game since the 1-0 homecoming win over Daniel Webster College last Saturday, the Mountaineers beat Bay Path College 2-1 Saturday afternoon, at Ryan Field.
  • Women’s Soccer Wins First NECC Game

    BENNINGTON, Vt.- For the first time in a New England Collegiate Conference game, the Southern Vermont College Women’s Soccer team won. SVC’s Shuana Poole scored on the first shot of the game six minutes in to give SVC a 1-0 lead. The Mountaineers hung on to the lead for the next 83 minutes to finish with a 1-0 victory over visiting Daniel Webster College.
  • Pilgrims Too Much For Mountaineers

    BENNINGTON, Vt.- For the first 15 minutes of Thursday afternoon’s Women’s Soccer match up between the visiting New England College Pilgrims and the Southern Vermont College Mountaineers was even. Then Alex Hytner played a 30 yard diagonal through ball to Kristen Walker who ran onto the ball and finished it home, to give NEC a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later the Pilgrims struck again when Veronica Hytner ripped a shot upper 90 from 18 yards out.
  • Women's Soccer falls in NECC Opener

    BENNINGTON, Vt.- The Southern Vermont College Women’s Soccer team fell in the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) season opener Saturday afternoon 4-0 at Everett Field. The Mountaineers took on NECC newcomer Regis College Pride.
  • Women's Soccer Falls to Cobleskill St.

    COBLESKILL, NY- The Southern Vermont College Women’s Soccer team fell to host SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday afternoon 3-0. It was the home opener for the Fighting Tigers who won their second straight match Wednesday. The visiting Mountaineers dropped to 1-3 with the loss as the Tigers improve to 2-3.
  • SVC loses Heartbreaker

    Morrisville, NY- After a week of indoor practice, the Southern Vermont College Women’s Soccer team was able to get outside on the pitch Saturday afternoon. Not for practice though. SVC traveled to Morrisville State to take on the Mustangs in an NCAA non-conference contest. The Mustangs slipped through with a 1-0 victory.
  • Women's Soccer Snaps Seven Year Skid

    CHESTNUT HILL, MA – When head coach Michael Zauzig took over the Women’s Soccer program in March of 2011, he had one major goal for the 2011 season: take strides forward. On Thursday afternoon, the Mountaineers didn’t only take small steps forward they took a major step. The SVC Women’s Soccer team won their first game in seven seasons. The Mountaineers used two first half goals to earn a 2-0 victory over Pine Manor College, at Hedley Field in Chestnut Hill, MA.
