ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Eight of the nine sponsored programs were represented on 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Softball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, four separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.
BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College softball team hosted NECC foe Bay Path College Sunday losing by games 21-3 and 20-3. Freshman Kayla Whitman (Bennington, Vt.) led SVC going 4-for-6 with four RBI including three home runs, a triple, and she stole home in the fifth inning of game two.

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont Softball team snapped a 46 game losing streak with a 13-12 win over SUNY-Cobleskill Thursday afternoon at Willow Park. The young Mountaineer squad split the doubleheader losing 11-1 in the second game. Ailish Ryan (Hoosick, N.Y.) had a huge day at the plate going 5-for-8 with four RBI’s including a double with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to seal the victory.
NASHUA, N.H. – The Southern Vermont softball team was swept by Daniel Webster College in a NECC doubleheader losing 13-3 and 3-0 Sunday afternoon. Amy Balawender (Adams, Mass.) led the Mountaineers offensively going 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI and a run scored.
TROY, N.Y. – The Southern Vermont College softball team kicked off its 2009 season with a doubleheader on the road against non-conference foe The Sage Colleges dropping both games 13-5 and 10-7. Lead-off hitter Kayla Whitman (Bennington, Vt.) stole home three times on the day and ended the afternoon with 10 stolen bases.
