BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College men’s volleyball team hosted non-conference foe the SUNY-IT Wildcats losing 3-0 (30-17, 30-13, 30-28) Wednesday night in the Field House. Sophomore Cam Herrington led the Mountaineers with 10 kills and junior Neel Patel had 17 assists. SVC honored its graduating class of Ryan Heron and Jullian Amaral for senior night.
SUNY-IT improves to 8-18 overall, while Southern Vermont slips to 1-12.
The Wildcats jumped ahead early 2-0, but Southern Vermont threatened with a solid third game leading most of the way. SUNY-IT had a 4-0 run to come from behind and seal the victory. Freshman Jeffrey Coon led the Wildcats with 15 kills, while setter Jonathan Brochu had a stellar 36 assists to help the attack.
Amaral tallied five kills and had a team-high eight digs for Southern Vermont. Heron added six digs and Patel had two service aces to round out the box for SVC.
Southern Vermont is back in action Thursday, March 18th, when it hosts North East Collegiate Volleyball Association opponent Endicott College for two matches at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the Field House.
