BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College men’s volleyball team hosted New England Division opponent the Endicott College Gulls in a rare doubleheader losing the first match 3-0 (30-13, 30-14, 30-17) and the second match 3-0 (30-12, 30-12, 30-19) Thursday night in the Field House. The Gulls were led by senior James Silva who had 10 kills in each match. The Mountaineers were led by sophomore Cam Herrington who finished with nine kills.
Endicott improves to 21-5 overall (8-0 NECVA), while Southern Vermont slips to 1-14 (1-11 NECVA).
Junior Jullian Amaral led SVC’s defensive stance with 19 digs overall. Junior setter Neel Patel tallied 21 assists overall, while freshman Chris Williams notched eight kills for Southern Vermont.
Senior setter Ben Foster had 29 assists on the night in only two games, and backup sophomore Jeremy Schlosser had 47 assists in Foster’s relief. Junior Jordan Durant led in the second contest with a match-high 13 kills.
The Gulls out-blocked the Mountaineers 14-3 overall and had 17 aces on the night as it remains the top team to beat in the New England Division of the NECVA.
Southern Vermont is back in action Saturday, March 20th, when it travels to North East Collegiate Volleyball Association and New England Collegiate Conference opponent Newbury College for a tri-match. SVC faces Wentworth Institute of Technology at 12:30 p.m. and Newbury at 2:00 p.m.
