BENNINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced its weekly award winners for the period ending October 16, 2016 with Southern Vermont College junior Paddy McGovern (Cheshire, England) being tabbed the Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week.

This is the second time for McGovern to pick up the rookie honor as he also took it home on September 19. It is also the third such laurel for Southern Vermont as freshman Chris Jimenez (Newark, N.J.) was bestowed with it on September 26.

McGovern had a great week for Southern Vermont, notching hat-tricks in each half of a win at Wheelock College on Tuesday as SVC went 1-1 on the week. The junior rookie now has 15 goals on the year, ranking eighth in the country and first in the NECC. His first goal of the night against the Wildcats ended up being the game winner-- his second so far this year.

McGovern and the Mountaineers are back in action on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. NECC home game against Elms College.
