BENNINGTON, Vt. – A great couple of performances led to Southern Vermont College junior Paddy McGovern (Cheshire, England) being selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week for the period ending September 18, 2016 as announced by the league on Monday.

McGovern had a stellar week for Southern Vermont, scoring four goals to lead the team to a pair of wins. He notched the first tally of a tight 2-1 double-overtime win at Vermont Technical College on Wednesday, and the rookie then went on to register his first career hat-trick in SVC's 3-0 shutout of Green Mountain College on Saturday.

This is the first time that the Mountaineer rookie is being honored by the NECC.

McGovern and Southern Vermont are back in action on Tuesday, hosting Lyndon State College for a 4 p.m. non-conference match that will be SVC's final game before starting NECC play on Saturday.
