NASHUA, N.H. — A pair of second half goals acted as insurance as the Southern Vermont College men's soccer team fell 3-0 at Daniel Webster College Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play.
The Eagles held Southern Vermont without a corner kick all day while testing the Mountaineer freshman keeper on numerous occasions; SVC goalie Cody Gross (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) finished the day with 21 saves in the loss (0-9-1). Daniel Webster junior net minder Sean Hamilton (Brookline, New Hampshire) turned away four Mountaineer shots in the win, moving to 5-4 on the year with his third shutout of the season.
The game was scoreless until the 33rd minute of action when Eagle sophomore Nathan Misidi (Atlanta, Georgia) put home his fourth of the year on a pass from classmate Marcos Vieira Filho (Hudson, New Hampshire). The 1-0 score stood through halftime and up until the 64:19 mark when Filho scored one of his own. Daniel Webster added its third almost five minutes later and went on to hold the 3-0 advantage through the remainder of the contest.
The Mountaineers (0-9-1, 0-1-1 NECC) now turn back to non-conference play when they head to Castleton State College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match. Daniel Webster (5-4-1, 1-1 NECC) also gears up for Tuesday non-league action, welcoming New England College for a 3:30 p.m. start.
