SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Southern Vermont men's soccer lost a close 1-0 match with an 81st minute goal at Skidmore College on Tuesday night. Thoroughbred freshman Tim Sullivan (Walpole, Mass.) notched the game-winner.
With the win, Skidmore improves to 8-2-1, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-9.
Skidmore outshot the Mountaineers 13-3 in the first half, however four saves from SVC freshman keeper Christopher Dunham (Valley Falls, N.Y.) kept the score at zeroes going to the break. Despite only three shots in the half, Southern Vermont was close to getting on the board first as both Tommy Youngblood (Leonardtown, Md.) and Erik Argueta (Pico Rivera, Calif.) had shots go off the crossbar.
Skidmore continued to put on the offensive pressure in the second half, but couldn't convert until Sullivan's late goal, the first of his collegiate career. The Thoroughbreds came close to scoring in the 50th minute, but Dunham made back to back saves to keep it scoreless.
Thoroughbred freshman keeper Eli Kisselbach (Stamford, Conn.) finished with two saves to earn his sixth shutout of the season, while Dunham finished with 10 on the night.
