NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - MCLA senior Luke Davis tallied a pair of
first half goals
in leading the Trailblazers past visiting Southern Vermont College
3-1
this afternoon at Shewcraft Field. With the win, MCLA moves
to 6-5-1,
while the Mountaineers fall to 5-8.
Davis broke through in the 25th minute heading home a cross from
Charles Donavan-Martin. The pair would strike again in
the 42nd minute as this time Davis would finish off a nice
through pass from Donovan-Martin to take a 2-0 lead into
halftime. The goals were Davis' first two of the
season.
MCLA controlled the first half play as they outshot the visitors
14-5 in the opening half.
MCLA added a third goal when Chris Nobrega hammered home a shot
from close range following an Israel Diaz feed giving the home
team an insurmountable 3-0 edge. The goal was
Nobrega's first of the season.
Southern Vermont would notch their only goal in the 76th minute
when Nick Haggerty scored from close range to cut the margin
to 3-1. Neither team would threaten the rest of the way
providing the final margin.
MCLA goalkeeper Adam Tarsa earned the win stopping four shots,
while Mountaineer keeper Aaron Eschler stopped eight
shots.
