LEICESTER, Mass.- Becker College scored three unanswered goals in the second half as the Hawks defeated Southern Vermont 4-2 in New England Collegiate Conference men's soccer action. Southern Vermont jumped on the board 9:08 into the game when Nick Haggerty laced a shot just past the reach of Becker goalkeeper Tim McDonald. Haggerty was fed on a pass from Cohen Bond.
Becker tied the score in the 47th minute when Aldo Karkanjozi broke down the left side of the field, ripping a shot past the dive of Southern Vermont goalkeeper Aaron Eschler. The Hawks took the lead in the 74th minute when Karkanjozi threaded a perfect pass to Tim Howard. Howard drove the shot into the bottom left corner of the net, giving Becker a 2-1 advantage. Thirty seconds later Kirubel Solomon scored what proved to be the eventual game winner when he broke through the Southern Vermont defense, blasting a shot into the top of the net.
The Mountaineers made things interesting when Nick Haggerty setup Derek Snow on a goal, cutting the Becker lead to 3-2. Karkanjozi scored in the 85th minute, securing the 4-2 win for Becker.
Aaron Eschler made five saves in a losing effort as the Mountaineers fell to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the NECC. Becker goalkeeper Tim McDonald made three saves as the Hawks upped their record to 9-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the NECC.
