BENNINGTON, Vt. — The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced the 2015-16 season’s first regional rankings for Division III men’s basketball on Wednesday with Southern Vermont College sitting at 10th on the Northeast listing.

SVC is currently 18-3 overall on the year and a perfect 12-0 against the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with four regular season games left to play.

“We are excited that we’re mentioned among the elite teams in the northeast,” commented third-year Mountaineer head coach Dan Engelstad. “We lookforward to pushing the bar higher and playing even better come playoff time. At the beginning of the year, we expected to be regionally ranked, but we believe we can get even higher on that list come season’s end.”

Southern Vermont can secure a first-round bye in the upcoming NECC postseason tournament with a win over Becker College on Thursday night (7 p.m.). The Mountaineers will bring a 10-game winning streak into that home contest while also having won their last 30 NECC regular season showings.
