BENNINGTON, Vt. — The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its final batch of weekly award winners for the 2015-16 basketball seasons with Southern Vermont College senior Casey Hall (Albany, N.Y.) taking claim to the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor for the period ending February 28, 2016.
It is the second career top NECC weekly accolade for the 6-6 forward as Hall was also selected as such back in December of 2014.
Hall was named the NECC Tournament MVP after leading the Mountaineers to their first NECC title in program history. He averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocks throughout the playoffs. On February 26, in the semifinals against Regis, Hall collected a game-best 14 rebounds as the Mountaineers went on to win 73-68. In the NECC Championship, the senior forward shot 77.8 percent from the line, while also adding two blocks and three assists, in the 74-72 victory over third-seeded Becker. He dropped game-highs of 16 and 18 points while extending his double-double streak to five games.
The Player of the Week award caps a great few days for the senior as he was also named to the All-NECC Second Team on Monday.
Hall and the Mountaineers are now preparing for this weekend’s NCAA DIII tournament, heading to Tufts University to face the hosting Jumbos in a 7:30 p.m. Friday night first-round matchup.
