RUTLAND, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College men's basketball team lost to the College of Saint Joseph on Thursday night by a final of 85-73.

Joe Karnik led the Mountaineers with a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds. Ben Naaktgeboren scored 20 and Cam Herrington added 10.

Tyler Herrington (Herrington's brother) poured in 22 points and pulled down 12 boards for the host team.

SVC trailed 45-25 at halftime, and rallied to cut the deficit to as few as eight, but got no closer than that.

"We played a pretty decent second half, but we just dug ourselves too big a hole in the first," SVC head coach Mike McDonough said.

The Mountaineers fell to 4-6 on the year and will face Elms College in Chicopee, Mass., on Saturday at 2 p.m.
