Avery joins the Mountaineers from Schenectady, N.Y. where he attended ND-Bishop Gibbons High School. In his senior year he averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 7.3 rebounds. He was a 2-time Christmas Tournament All-Star and helped his team win the Section 2 Class A Championships in 2008. He is currently undecided on a major but is focusing on his core studies until he decides. Avery is the grandson of Shirley and Alex Perryman.
