dylan angelo named necc pitcher of the week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern Vermont College senior righty Dylan Angelo (Amsterdam, N.Y.) has once again been named the New England Collegiate Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week—this time for the period ending April 30, 2017 as announced by the league on Monday.

Angelo had a strong pair of outings last week—totaling nine innings on the bump while giving up just two earned runs across those performances. He went a solid seven innings of a close loss at Becker College on Thursday—striking out five while giving up just two earned runs on five hits.

The senior captain then followed that with a great showing out of the bullpen on Sunday to help SVC defeat Mitchell College 5-4; he inherited a tied ballgame in the eighth and allowed the Mariners to only tally an unearned score in the ninth before finishing off his third win of the year on his Senior Day.

Monday’s honor is the third time Angelo is collecting a weekly accolade from the Conference and the second time in the last three weeks he has been named the league’s top pitcher.

Angelo and the Mountaineers conclude the 2017 campaign on Tuesday when they host Daniel Webster College for an NECC doubleheader set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
