BENNINGTON, Vt. — The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly award winners for the period ending May 3, 2015 with the Baseball Rookie of the Week honor going to Southern Vermont College freshman Niko D’Agnese (Mahopec, N.Y.).

This is the second time the Mountaineer is picking up the league’s rookie accolade, also being named as such on April 13.

D'Agnese had a strong finish to his rookie season last week, hitting .346 while knocking in five runs and scoring six more. He swiped two bases and worked a pair of walks as SVC fought to stay in playoff contention, turning in three multi-hit games. The freshman played in all seven of the Mountaineers’ contests, helping them go 5-2 to finish the year with the team’s most wins since the 2011 campaign (16-18).
