Vikings Prevail Over Mountaineers

FORT MYERS, Fla. The Southern Vermont College baseball team lost to the North Park University Vikings of Chicago, Illinois 12-4 Monday, March 8, at Terry Park. Senior Brett Pawlak led the Mountaineers going 2-for-4 tallying three RBI’s.

The loss drops Southern Vermont to 1-3 overall, while the Vikings improved to 5-0.

Southern Vermont was down 12-1 after six innings of play and could tack on three more runs as Vikes pitcher Jake Hollinsaid (2-0) got the win. Hollinsaid struck out five Mountaineers and only gave up one run in six innings. Freshman Max Ginter (0-1) took the loss for SVC as he struck out one in four and a third innings.

Junior Adam Northup went 2-for-3 and knocked in one run for SVC. Rounding out the box were freshman Dillion Desiderato, sophomore Keith Diotte, sophomore Eric Wells, and junior Dan Cook who each had singles.

Junior Mike Sommerfield led North Park going 3-for-3 and tallying three RBI’s.

The Mountaineers face off against Olivet College on Wednesday, March 10th, at 2:00 p.m.
