Murray joins Coach Gage's staff after pitching three years for the Mountaineers with his best statistical season coming in 2011 when he carried a 2.82 ERA, the best ever for a Mountaineer who threw at least 50 innings in a season; in 51 innings that year, he had a 1.27 WHIP and struck out 34 batters en route to a 3-1 record in seven starts. One of his best performances came in the third and final game of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship when he allowed only one run in seven innings of work.

For his career, Murray had a 1.58 WHIP and 96 strikeouts, fourth best in SVC history. His 4.86 career ERA is the best for a Mountaineer who pitched at least 75 innings throughout a collegiate tenure. Batters who faced the primarily groundball right-hander hit only .284 while he wore an SVC uniform.

An all-around athlete, Murray played three seasons of soccer at Southern Vermont including this past fall when he was selected to the All-NECC Second Team. He also played two seasons of men’s volleyball for Coach Stokes and even suited up for nine basketball games his freshman year at SVC.

Most recently, Murray played in the California Winter League, a developmental instructional league based in Palm Springs, Calif. that allows professional teams to evaluate players, as he continues to pursue a career playing pro ball.

Murray will graduate from SVC in May with a Bachelor of Business Administration/Management degree.
