Jillanna Simon was awarded the Assistant Athletic Training Internship at Southern Vermont College in the summer of 2011 and has since become a full-time assistant for Head Athletic Trainer Ashley Hodges.  Simon garnered experience working with collegiate athletes while enrolled at Castleton State College before graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training degree in May of 2011. 

While at CSC, she assisted with the Spartans’ women’s lacrosse, men’s ice hockey, softball and women’s basketball teams.  Simon also had stints working at Fair Haven High School (Vt.) and at Green Mountain College with its men’s and women’s lacrosse teams.  In the winter of 2010-11, she interned at the Slate Valley Physical Therapy Clinic in Fair Haven, Vt. 

Simon played four years of soccer at Castleton while also being the secretary, and then vice president, of the College’s Athletic Training Club.  She was a two-year member of Iota Tau Alpha (Athletic Training National Honor Society), serving as its president in her senior year, 2010-11.  Simon has received her diploma for coaching soccer at the regional and state level in addition to minoring in coaching at CSC.
