Hisert came to the Mountaineer staff for the 2013 SVC season after serving as the assistant coach for Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) champion Amsterdam Mohawks.

Hisert worked as an assistant in the summer of 2011 for the Mohawks who finished the season ranked second in the country by Perfect Game. Hisert coached the Mohawks to a 35-12 regular season record and a .291 batting average along with a 3.34 earned run average.

Hisert played professional baseball overseas in Parma, Italy. While in Italy, he hit .307, which landed him a spot working with the Italian Nation team. Before his professional career, Hisert went to Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) where he was named the 2005 SCCC Male Athlete of the Year. While at SCCC, Hisert earned 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-Region honors.

Coach Hisert grew up and played high school baseball in Amsterdam, N.Y. where he was named to the Amsterdam Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011. Hisert still resides in Amsterdam, N.Y. with his wife, Sara, and daughter Emilia Domani.
