BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont women’s cross country freshman Alice Lala (Biddesford, Maine) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 14, 2012.

                Lala finished 64^th on Saturday at the Western New England Golden Bears Invitational in Springfield, Mass.  Her time of 21:36.00 was a personal-best, and it was also good enough to rank fourth all-time among SVC women runners. 

She was the highest NECC finisher at the Invitational, a race which was comprised of 212 runners from 23 schools, four being from the conference.
