Cross Country Competes at Western New England Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Southern Vermont College Cross Country teams competed in the Western  New England Invitational this past weekend. The Men’s team finished in 15th out of 16 and the Women’s team placed 19th. The Mountaineers Olivia Botteron finished 120th with a time of 24:45 in the women’s race. On the Men’s side, the lead runner was Heherson Canta with a time of 31:06.

On the Men’s side the team finished with 453 points, as Canta came across the line with 70. Canta’s time was a two minute improvement on his personal record. WPI won the Men’s race with a grand total of 45 points. Michael Ragland finished second for SVC in the race as Victor Velazquez finished 141 in the race with a time of 33:23.

For the Southern Vermont Women, Botteron , Brittany Stark, and Sam Maher were the top three runners. Stark finished the meet with a time of 26:51 and Maher crossed the line at 29:07.

Southern Vermont will compete next in the NECC championships on October 29th in Boston, Mass.
