ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern Vermont College reeled in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award for the period ending September 24, 2017 on Monday as Bennington College senior Isabella Poulos (Milwaukee, Wis.) earned the honor.

Poulos ran a terrific race Saturday at Williams College's Purple Valley Classic—crossing the line with a time of 22:06. That was her best mark of the season with a pace of 7:08 per mile.

She and SVC freshman Emily Ikonen (Hubbardston, Mass.) swept the NECC women's cross country awards on Monday as Ikonen was named the Rookie of the Week. Ikonen also had a great showing on Saturday against the strong Purple Valley Classic field—taking 1:16 off of her previous personal best to post a 25:06.

Poulos, Ikonen, and the Mountaineers are back on the course this Saturday with the Keene State College Invitational.
