BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southern Vermont College junior captain Shelby Whitman (Bennington, Vt.) is back to earning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) accolades as she was named the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday for the week ending September 13, 2015.

It is her fifth career NECC weekly honor as the junior was named the Runner of the Week four times last year.

Whitman helped the Southern Vermont women's squad place third at Saturday's Castleton Invitational, finishing third overall with a time of 22:46. She had a split time of 7:20 per mile, and she took 24 seconds off her time from a week earlier.

Whitman was not the only Mountaineer to receive weekly cross country honors from the league as junior Justin Ferguson (Broadalbin, N.Y.) and freshman Noah Froh (Milwaukee, Wis.) were tabbed as the NECC Men's Cross Country Runner and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

SVC now turns to this Saturday's Johnson State College Invitational.
