BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College sophomore Shelby Whitman (Bennington, Vermont) has once again been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, this time for the period ending October 19, 2014.

Whitman, who is taking the top conference honor for the third time this season, finished 20th overall on Saturday at the Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational, being the first Mountaineer to cross the finish line. The sophomore completed the 5000 meter course in a time of 20:50, just one second behind her personal record.

Whitman and the Mountaineers are now finished with the regular season schedule and will start to prepare for the NECC Championship, a 5K to be held on Saturday, November 1 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
