WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Southern Vermont College continued its preparations for the championship season on Saturday, competing in the Williams College Purple Valley Classic women's 5000 meter race.
SVC finished ninth overall as a team against a very tough field, being led by sophomore Schyler McGuire (Mechanicville, New York) who finished with a time of 23:21.
McGuire was followed by senior Emily Freling (Schenevus, New York) who was second across the line for Southern Vermont, finishing at 27:35. Next to come through for SVC was senior Tenzin Dhekyong (Amherst, Massachusetts) who completed the course in 27:59.
Mountaineer senior Sarah Lampro (Otis, Massachusetts) was fourth for her team at 33:02, and sophomore Victoria Cotter (Yonkers, New York) rounded out the team at 36:26.
Williams took the 5K team title while Massachusetts Institute of Technology won the 6000 meter race held later in the day.
Southern Vermont looks ahead to next Saturday's Keene State Invitational at Keene State College slated to start at 11 a.m.
