BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the second time this season, Southern Vermont College women's cross country sophomore Haley Omasta (Danbury, Conn.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Runner of the Week, this time for the week ending October 20, 2013.
Omasta finished second for the Mountaineers at the 2013 Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational on Saturday in Springfield, Mass. She finished with a time of 21:52.41, her best this season and nine seconds shy of her personal best time that she set at last year's Golden Bear Invite.
The captain was also named the NECC Runner of the Week back on October 7 following her performance at the Vermont State Championship.
Omasta and the Mountaineers look to putting the final touches on training for the NECC Championship which takes place this Saturday at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., a 5K race hosted by Bay Path College. Southern Vermont placed fourth in the Championship last season.
