BENNINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has named Southern Vermont College freshman Schyler McGuire (Mechanicville, N.Y.) the Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 6, 2013.

McGuire led Southern Vermont at the Keene Invitational at Keene State College on Saturday with a time of 21:12, placing 48th overall. She also finished before any other NECC runner in a field that included Elms College and Newbury College, as well as Division II institutions.

The Mountaineers will take a week off to recover and start training for the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Western New England University on Saturday, October 19.
