KEENE, N.H. – Southern Vermont College's women's cross country team saw four members participate in the Keene Invitational at Keene State College Saturday in a 5K that included institutions from Division II and III.
Freshman Schyler McGuire (Mechanicville, N.Y.) ran a great race, coming in with a time of 21:12, good enough to place her 48th in the 153-runner field. Sophomore Ashley Perrino (Rotterdam, N.Y.) and freshman Abby Beaucage (Starksboro, Vt.) crossed together at 33:41, and senior Sara Burds (Williston, Vt.) finished with a season-best 33:47; Beaucage's time was a personal-best for her.
Brandeis University finished first in the team scoring as it placed the second, third, and fourth finishers. St. Michael's College junior Chloe Boutelle (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) led all runners with a time of 18:44 to help the Purple Knights to a fourth-place team finish. Keene finished second, and Wellesley College totaled enough points for third.
The Mountaineers take a week off as they prepare for the Western New England University Golden Bear Invitational on Saturday, October 19, a course that will lend itself to strong times for the team.
