Women’s Volleyball Downed 3-0 by SUNY Canton, Cégep André-Laurendeau in Day Two of Victory Promotions Invitational

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Southern Vermont College women's volleyball team was handed 3-0 losses by both SUNY Canton and Cégep André-Laurendeau Saturday afternoon in the second day of the Victory Promotions Invitational, both of the Mountaineers' matches being played at SUNY Potsdam.

SVC (2-5) heads to Utica College on Tuesday for its next contest, first serve against the Pioneers slated for 7 p.m.


SUNY Canton 3 – Southern Vermont 0
The Kangaroos defeated Southern Vermont for the second time in as many weeks, taking Saturday's match with game scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-7.

Mountaineer freshman Sarah Billow (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) led the team with five digs and four aces in the effort. Senior captain Brin Goldman (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) added a pair of kills and a team-best 13 digs while sophomore Lizzy Bench (St. Petersburg, Fla.) had two kills and six digs.

SVC sophomore setter Michelle Urkevich (Troy, N.Y.) chalked up 10 assists and four digs against the Roos as freshman Tay Phillips (Stephentown, N.Y.) recorded two kills and another four digs.


Cégep André-Laurendeau 3 – Southern Vermont 0
Cégep André-Laurendeau, from Montreal, Québec, knocked off the Mountaineers with set scores of 25-17, 26-24, and 25-11. The match was considered an exhibition and does not count against SVC's overall record as CAL does not meet the NCAA's requirements to be a countable opponent. 

With the match being an exhibition contest, no official stats are available.
