BENNINGTON, Vt. – After accumulating 71 kills and helping her team go 3-0 last week, Southern Vermont College senior Jessica Delgado (Los Angeles, California) was named the New England Collegiate Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending September 21, 2014 as announced by the league on Monday.
Delgado had a tremendous week for the Mountaineers, averaging 5.46 kills per set while adding four digs per set across the three contests; she also recorded 11 aces from behind the line. Delgado notched kill match-highs in each of the three tilts including 30 in a four-set bout against Castleton State. The senior was surgical with her attack attempts, only notching eight errors on 189 swings during the week for a .333 hitting percentage.
The SVC senior currently leads the conference with 3.88 kills per set this season.
Delgado and the Mountaineers are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Norwich University for a 6 p.m. match.
