Delgado Named to All-NECC First Team, Kaleopa Collects Honorable Mention

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Southern Vermont College women’s volleyball was recognized Monday by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with two players receiving all-league accolades. Senior Jessica Delgado (Los Angeles, California) received an All-NECC First Team honor, and junior Sheilani Kaleopa (Riverside, California) was donned with her second straight All-NECC honorable mention.

Delgado returns to the All-NECC First Team after doing so last year as well, marking five consecutive seasons now for a Mountaineer to make the league’s top squad. She finished the 2014 season with 3.15 kills per set, 3.47 digs per set, and 47 service aces. She ranked second in the NECC in kills per set and third in total kills (236). She finishes her two-year Southern Vermont career with 472 kills and 480 digs, both good enough for her to land fourth on the team’s all-time record list in both categories. The senior was also named the NECC Player of the Week back on September 22.

Kaleopa had an outstanding year for the Mountaineers, helping out in all facets of the game for the team. The junior was the primary setter for SVC, averaging 5.66 assists per set in 2014. She added 47 service aces, 51 kills and chipped in defensively with 2.85 digs per set. Her 0.77 service aces per set was the league-high following the conference tournament this past weekend. After three years at SVC, Kaleopa currently ranks fourth for the program in all-time assists (971) and is just five aces shy of cracking the team’s career top five list with 115.
