BENNINGTON, Vt. – For the third week in a row, a Southern Vermont College women’s volleyball player has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, this time seeing junior Marissa Flores (Azusa, Calif.) take the honor for the week ending October 13, 2013.
Flores recorded a stellar .375 hitting percentage last week while helping the Mountaineers to two NECC victories, solidifying a spot in the conference postseason tournament. She also chipped in with 2.17 digs/set and three aces from behind the line. The junior matched a career-best with 16 kills in the win at Becker College on Wednesday and then led the team with 10 more on Saturday in the playoff-clinching performance against Mitchell College.
She and the Mountaineers return to action Tuesday with a tough non-conference showdown at Williams College at 7 p.m.
