POTSDAM, N.Y. – In the opening day of the Victory Promotions Invitational hosted by SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University, the Southern Vermont College women's volleyball team took one of its two matches at Welsh Gym on the Potsdam campus. The Mountaineers first lost to Clarkson University 3-0 and then defeated Norwich University 3-2.
Southern Vermont moves to 3-3 on the season with the evening split.

Southern Vermont lost to the Knights with game scores of 25-13, 25-9, and 25-4.
Mountaineer junior Jessica Delgado (Los Angeles, Calif.) had four kills and seven digs, and senior Vanessa Ruelas (Paramount, Calif.) had a team-high eight digs. Sophomore setter Sheilani Kaleopa (Riverside, Calif.) assisted six of the seven SVC kills.
Clarkson sophomore Victoria Kirkemo (Engelwood, Colo.) led all players with 13 kills while senior Lani Durio (Austin, Texas) had a match-high 26 assists. Senior libero Erika Chin (Katy, Texas) recorded 11 digs on the afternoon.
Southern Vermont 3, Norwich 2
The Mountaineers knocked off Norwich in a rematch from last Friday with set scores of 25-16, 26-24, 17-25, 23-25, and 15-10.
Delgado finished with 20 kills and 27 digs, and senior Carrie Baltazar (Whittier, Calif.) followed with 16 kills and 17 digs. Vanessa Ruelas also recorded 27 digs in the nightcap, and Kaleopa assisted on 36 of the team's 38 kills.
Southern Vermont concludes the VPI Saturday with matches against Queens University from Canada (1 p.m.) and St. Lawrence (3 p.m.), both being played at SLU.
