Danielle Healis Named NECC Player of the Week (10/28/12)

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Senior outside hitter Danielle Healis (Escondido, Calif.) of Southern Vermont College has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending October 28.

                Healis helped the Mountaineers in a 3-3 week which included wins in both of their NECC matches.  SVC took down Elms College and Lesley University to finish the season a perfect 8-0 in the conference, never dropping a single set in the process.  She was also named to the Skidmore Invitational All-Tournament Team.

                The senior captain was extremely efficient for the Mountaineers, only recording five hitting errors across the six matches. She averaged 2.55 kills and 1.05 blocks per set while hitting .434. In the two conference wins against Elms and Lesley, she hit .541 and totaled 14 kills with only one error.

                Healis and the Mountaineers have earned the No. 1 seed in the NECC playoffs, the semifinals and championship rounds to be hosted by Southern Vermont.  They will take on the winner of No. 4 Daniel Webster College versus fifth-seeded Lesley University on Friday evening, that match tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m.
