Jessica Alvarez Named to ECAC DIII New England First Team

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the 2012 Women's Volleyball All-Star Teams, and Southern Vermont College's senior outside hitter Jessica Alvarez (Los Angeles, Calif.) garnered a Division III New England First-Team selection.  She is the first SVC women's volleyball player to be named to an All-ECAC team.

For the second-consecutive season, Alvarez was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Year and helped the Mountaineers to an NECC Championship repeat, going 8-0 in the conference regular season and then winning the semifinal and championship matches.

Alvarez led the league averaging 3.54 kills per set with a .378 hitting percentage against conference opponents.  She also added 3.12 digs per set and 16 service aces.

The ECAC is the nation's largest athletic and the only multi-divisional conference in the country with approximately 300 Division I, II, and III colleges and universities. The ECAC stretches from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-profit service organization, sponsors nearly 100 championships in 37 men's and women's sports and assigns more than 4,400 officials in 12 sports.
