Mountaineers Soar Over Hawks in NECC Opener

Leicester, Mass. --- The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers traveled to Becker College Tuesday evening and came away with a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-12, 25-14). It was the opening New England Collegiate Conference match for the SVC Women's Volleyball team. The Mountaineers improved to 18-2, 1-0 in the NECC while the Hawks fell to 3-13 with a 0-2 conference mark.

 Danielle Healis (San Diego, CA) led the charge for Southern Vermont with 11 kills and a .450 hitting percentage. Jessica Alvarez (Eagle Rock, CA) contributed with nine kills, three service aces and six digs. Alicia Manzo (Clovis, CA) filled up the stat sheet with eight kills, five service aces, three digs and a .429 clip. Roxy Domines (Los Angeles, CA) set the table with 27 assists, along with two service aces and two digs. Vivian Delgado (La Puente, CA) anchored the defense with 18 digs.

The Hawks were led by Jacqueline Chila (Monroe, CT) with three kills and a solo block. Nicole Morse (Alton, NH) added two kills and a solo block while Joanna Slomiak (Brockton, MA) had three kills. Danielle Robbie (Bellingham, MA) collected nine digs.

Southern Vermont heads to SUNY Cobleskill this Thursday to take on the Fighting Tigers in a 7pm matchup. The Hawks hit the road this Saturday as they take part in a tri-match hosted by the Blazers of Elms College at 11am.
