ATTLEBORO, Mass. — The 2009 NECC champs, the Eagles of Daniel Webster College have claimed the top seed in the 2010 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball Championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles (17-6 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a perfect 7-0 conference record.
The Lesley University Lynx (17-9 overall) earned the #2 seed with a 6-1 conference record. Both the Eagles and Lynx earned byes in the quarterfinal round.
The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers (13-8 overall) and the Newbury College Nighthawks (10-16 overall) both finished with a 4-3 conference record. The Mountaineers earned the #3 seed over Nighthawks after defeating them in regular-season head-to-head play.
Rounding out the tournament bracket are the #5 and #6 seeds with the Elms College Blazers (7-19 overall) concluding conference play with a 3-4 record and the Bay Path College Wildcats (7-13 overall) grabbing the final spot, finishing 2-5 in the NECC. Bay Path defeated Mitchell College in head-to-head play, taking the #6 seed after finishing tied with the Mariners.
On Tuesday, November 2nd , #3 Southern Vermont will host #6 Bay Path in Bennington, Vt. at 7:00 p.m., while #4 Newbury will host #5 Elms at a 7:00 p.m. start time in Brookline, Mass.
The winners of these quarterfinal matches will advance to the semifinals on Daniel Webster's campus .
As the #1 seed, Daniel Webster will host the semifinals and the championship match in Nashua, N.H. on Friday, November 5th and Saturday, November 6th . Game times and match-ups are listed below in the bracket format. All published times are subject to change.
