Lesley Sweeps Elms And Southern Vermont In Women’s Volleyball

BENNINGTON, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College women's volleyball paid tribute to its seniors: Laura Sullivan, Kayleigh Moretto, Bethany Stolz, and Danielle Hume as the Mountaineers suited up for their last home games in their collegiate careers. Lesley swept the tri-match beating Elms 3-1 and SVC 3-0.

ELMS 3, SOUTHERN VERMONT 0     Box Score

25-12, 25-11, 25-18

The Blazers swept the Mountaineers 3-0 but SVC seemed to be gaining momentum by the third set notching 18 points in the loss. Moretto and Golub each had four kills and Golub led defensively as well with nine digs for Southern Vermont. Serve receive errors nearly cancelled each other out as Elms committed nine and SVC eight.

Stacy Croteau led the attack for the Blazers with 13 kills, five aces, and also five digs on the defense. Jen Rego led the team with seven digs and also led with seven assists for Elms who improved to 8-18 overall and 4-2 in the NECC. The Mountaineers fell to 1-18 overall and 0-6 in Conference action.

LESLEY 3, ELMS 1

20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-20

The Lynx came out cold in the first set then turned it on to take three in a row from Elms as they defeated the Blazers 3-1. Lesley was led by Amanda McCracken and Lindsey Marek who had 14 and 13 kills respectfully. Kaitlyn Miller was the main setter for the Lynx and compiled an even 24 assists in the match.

The Blazers were led by Stacy Croteau who had 11 kills and Kim Phillips set all of those as she finished with 17 assists. The win gives Lesley a 12-12 overall record and 4-2 in the NECC, while the loss gives Elms an 8-19 record with a 4-3 total in Conference action.

25-9, 25-8, 25-12

SVC lost to Lesley 3-0 as the Mountaineers committed 19 serve receive errors. McCracken led the Lynx with 11 kills and Miller had 15 assists, giving her 39 in the tri-match. Bethany Stolz led the defensive game for SVC with five digs and a kill.

The Mountaineers are set to finish up the season in Maine against non-conference foe Maine Machias on November 7th at 10:00 a.m.
