CASTLETON, Vt. - The Southern Vermont College women's volleyball team lost on the road against the Castleton State College Spartans 3-0 (25-8, 25-11 and 25-9) Tuesday night at the Glenbrook Gymnasium.
With the win, Castleton improved to 8-5 on the season, while Southern Vermont fell to 1-11.
Kayleigh Moretto registered three kills for the Mountaineers. Sarah Golub and Kathleen Babcock paced the defense with five and four digs respectively.
Ashley Kepaa led the Spartan attack with 12 kills, including a perfect 4-for-4 in the opening set. Jamie Lemieux added nine kills and nine service aces. Lemieux also led the Spartan defense with a team-high five digs while Jennifer Vibert and Hillary Greenfield each had nine assists.
Southern Vermont is at Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon for a New England Collegiate Conference quad match. The Mountaineers square off with Mitchell at 1:00 p.m. and Daniel Webster at 3:00 p.m..
