POULTNEY, Vt. - Green Mountain College defeated Southern Vermont College 3 sets to 0 in Sunday's non-conference match in Poultney. The Eagles strong serving game defeated the Mountaineers by scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-10.
SVC (0-13) freshman Joa Claircius (Clermont FL, East Ridge HS) led the way with a strong performance of: five kills, four aces, and three digs. Mountaineer sophomore Kathleen Babcock (Vernon, CT/Rockville HS) put some great numbers as well posting one kill, four digs, one ace, and two blocks.
The Eagles (12-4) took control of the match early, as they had a combined 24 aces in the three sets. GMC was led by Emma Brinley-Buckley who had five kills, five assists and eight aces, and Ify Umeugo who added eight kills and three aces.
Green Mountain improves to 12-4 on the season, while the Mountaineers fell to 0-13 on the season.
The Mountaineers host Green Mountain at home Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00p.m.
