HUDSON, N.Y. - The Southern Vermont Women's Volleyball team came up short in both matches of the Bard-Becker Tri-Match Saturday giving them a 0-4 record so far this season.
They put up good effort against the undefeated (2-0) Bard College Raptors losing sets 25-9, 25-8, 25-13.
The Southern Vermont effort was led by Freshman Joa Claircius (Clermont FL, East Ridge HS) who had five total attacks and one defensive dig. Freshman Kristen Cummings (New Britain, CT/New Britain HS) added five defensive digs to round out the Mountaineers match.
Raptor Rachel Van Horn had a great match with 13 total attacks, and four service aces. The Raptors also had support from Iga Mrozek who added eight total attacks.
The Mountaineers faired better in there second match of the day which was against Becker College.
They posted sets of 25-11, 25-19, 25-21 in what ended up being a close match for the Southern Vermont Women's Volleyball team who dropped to a 0-4 record on the season.
The Mountaineers were led by Claircius who had seven total attacks, five service aces, and six defensive digs. Junior Kayleigh Moretto (Bow, NH/Bow HS) contributed five total attacks and three defensive digs in the loss.
The Hawks were led by Seniors Kelly Anne Banner and Rachel Pinak who each had 22 total attacks. Pinak also added nine service aces for Becker College who improved to 1-2 on the year.
The Mountaineers (0-4) return to action Saturday 12:00 p.m. when they take on Lyndon State and University of Maine at Machias in a Tri-Match at Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vt.
