ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced on Monday its weekly award winners for the period ending September 30, 2018 with Southern Vermont College freshman Maddie Gibney (Albany, N.Y.) being named the Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week.

Gibney notched her first collegiate points over the weekend to help SVC extend its winning streak to three-straight games. In a Saturday league win over Newbury College, she assisted on the Mountaineers' second goal of the game with a well-hit corner kick from the right side. The freshman then fired home her first career score from the top of the box to make it a 3-0 lead in the 55th minute.

The Southern Vermont rookie and the Mountaineers are back in action on Tuesday when they visit Cazenovia College for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
